I spent my childhood years in California and then moved to the Philadelphia area where I attended middle school and high school. After graduating from the University of Delaware, I married and moved to Chattanooga. Except for a one-year move to Texas, Chattanooga has been my home.

Years ago I taught first/second grade split classes at DuPont Elementary before teaching in the College of Education at UTC. After 16 years of teaching, my son was born and I homeschooled him. When he was nine years old, we adopted his cousin; so I now have two grown children and one grandchild by my daughter.

When my children were in high school, I returned to teaching outside the home. At first I went back to UTC where I taught for eight years in the ESL Institute as well as teaching night classes in ESL/TOEFL at Chattanooga State. I then returned to the public schools where I have now been teaching ESL for eight years. I am happy to say that I have been back at DuPont for the past six years. I love working with both the students and their parents and hope to continue teaching several more years.
